Climate Smart & Tech Smart Ag Pathways
Zasti
COP28 not only recognizes agriculture’s global impact on carbon emissions, but it has prioritized a pathway for mitigation. Land use and food systems account for almost a third of anthropogenic carbon emissions posing a massive threat to food security and biodiversity. It is indeed timely that over 150 countries have signed the COP28 UAE Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action acknowledging agriculture and food systems significant impact on climate change.
The only solution is to have an objective system to measure baselines and identify efficacious pathways before undertaking the necessary steps to decarbonize. Sustainable Agricultural transitions need to be tethered to granular data and carbon smart tech tools. Data-driven approaches embedded in ATOM™ allow suppliers, farmers, processors, and the Ag value chain to better deploy resources to target carbon emission reductions while concurrently harnessing monetary benefits.
